Upto You…

A fun night together, dinner and drinks
He walked me out and till the rick
He went on his way, just like I did too
No matter the evening, he does not measure upto you

He opened the door and walked straight in
And when I walked through, gave me the sweetest grin
But hold the door open, he did not do
No matter the evening, he does not measure upto you

He laughed at my jokes and told me I’m fun
But together, we checked out, this one and that one
He sized me up plenty but repeated the same with every other girl too
No matter the evening, he does not measure upto you

We matched each other drink for drink, like a little game
Unfortunately, the alcohol won and I realised, I was kinda lame
He said “you’ve had enough” sternly, no more bottled goo
No matter the evening, he does not measure upto you

He did the drinking happily but no post-drink drive
‘Cause my oh my, the cost would sky rocket high
We went straight back, no turns and twists we would do
No matter the evening, he does not measure upto you

It’s time to part, is tonight something we will miss?
No hug goodbye or drunk forehead kiss
He moved like a bird, and with his flock, just flew
No matter the evening, he does not measure upto you

He comes for each party and every night out
Sometimes even for a movie, or to passionately make out
But come the need of the hour, source untraceable like a dangerous flu
No matter the time spent, he does not measure upto you

See, the problem here, lies in your firm decision
You think you’re doing what’s best with perfect precision
But turn away you wouldn’t, had you really wanted the best to come true
‘Cause everything that matters now, is left upto you…
